By age 30, he’d be one of the most in-demand talents in musical theater, and making inroads as a TV and movie actor and writer. Miranda was 28 years old when In the Heights won the Best Musical award at the Tonys. By the end of the decade, he’d be at Wesleyan University in Connecticut, where - inspired by Rent - he’d start developing the musical that would become the Broadway hit In the Heights. He was living with his parents in Upper Manhattan, near Washington Heights, and attending an exclusive elementary school geared toward gifted students. We heard uses of the words Oh My G-d, pain in the p!ssed, G-d Jesus Christ, and sh!t. Maybe take a listen to the soundtrack to decide how the language is used before watching with your child. So if hearing your kids repeat or or the F-bomb in the context of a song is a big concern for you, please be aware of this. The swears really aren’t used too often, but please note: a couple are part of song lyrics. However, if your child is already consuming theater productions and musicals, this one is actually fairly tame compared to other shows they may have seen.
